URA Joins Amani Christian CDC to Celebrate New Affordable Modular Housing in the Hill District

October 31, 2024

Today, the Urban Redevelopment Authority of Pittsburgh, City of Pittsburgh and partners joined Amani Christian Community Development Corporation (Amani Christian CDC) for its groundbreaking and modular unit installation of the Ledlie St. Townhomes project.

The Ledlie St. Townhomes project consists of the new construction of two modern, high efficiency, for-sale residential units on vacant, underutilized land in the Middle Hill District at the corner of Ledlie Street and Monaca Place. Amani Christian CDC is piloting the project with Module, marking the first modular housing construction in the Hill District neighborhood.

The two three-story, semi-detached units of housing will each have three bedrooms, one and a half baths and approximately 1,470 square feet of living space. Both homes are reserved for purchase by low-income households, households experiencing homelessness and households with individuals with special needs. The affordability of these units ranges from 50% of the Area Median Income (AMI) to 80% AMI.

“We know these townhomes will be a welcome addition to the Hill District and provide opportunities for some of our most vulnerable populations,” said URA Chief Housing Officer Quianna Wasler. “Thanks again to Amani for bringing affordability and homeownership opportunities to our Hill community. You are doing the work and are an excellent partner in the URA’s and City’s shared vision for a more affordable, healthy Pittsburgh community.”

The URA committed nearly $267,600 in OwnPGH construction financing, made possible through the American Rescue Plan Act, as well as $60,000 in Housing Opportunity Fund financing. Project funders also include the PA Housing Finance Agency, Allegheny County Economic Development, First Commonwealth Bank and the Hillman Foundation.

Construction is expected to be completed in November 2024.
