MWBE News and Events for November 2019

November 2019

Greenwood Week 2019 | Rebuilding Black Economics

On October 27, 2019, Greenwood Week’s Launch Party Brunch was held at the August Wilson African American Cultural Center. Diamonte Walker, the URA’s interim executive director, was a guest speaker, who stressed the importance of minority and woman-owned businesses becoming certified. See Training Opportunity below for an upcoming certification workshop.

During the Launch Party, Lisa Moses, the URA’s MWBE program coordinator, mingled with the crowd to learn about existing businesses, businesses that are in the planning stages and business aspirations/dreams.

A Thank You to Maya Fews and Karlee Turkaly

The MWBE Program Office would like to thank Maya Fews and Karlee Turkaly for assisting Lisa Moses with networking and outreach at the October 29, 2019 GACO, PACT’s 32nd Annual Procurement Opportunities Fair, held at the Monroeville Convention Center. Both Maya (the URA’s equity and inclusion coordinator) and Karlee (an entrepreneurship investment specialist in the URA’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship) shared their expertise with a wide range of business representatives, who were interested in learning about the URA.
