The URA purchased the property in 2008 from the Board of Education (BOE). The building remained vacant for 20 years prior to the sale.
The development includes the adaptive reuse and substantial rehabilitation of the former school into a mixed-use / mixed-income development containing 84 affordable rental units, 22 market rate units and approximately 13,500 square feet of commercial space. Seventy-nine percent (79%) of the rental units are rented to elderly households with incomes below 60 percent of the Area Median Income (AMI).
