Reasons to visit

Sip a Hell Hound, listen to poetry and music, buy a magically unusual necklace, and sit in a spark…all on Warrington Avenue in Allentown!

  • Sip a Hell Hound (a dark chocolate, chili, espresso, and cocoa drink) while having fun at Open Mic Night at Black Forge Coffee

  • Visit Onion Maiden, one of Pittsburgh’s favorite vegan restaurants. You can enjoy Saturday brunch, or if the weather is fine, have takeout in the spark in front of the business.

  • Find unusual gifts, jewelry, and oddities at The Weeping Glass

Cool facts

  • From 1890 to 1960, the Knoxville Incline served as a connector between the South Side Flats and the Hilltop. The Allentown community is working to preserve the space as a greenway, with walking trails, city vistas, and sitting areas.

  • Grandview Park, which is a green bridge between Mt. Washington and Allentown, is part of the Emerald View Park, a series of parks and trails that connect hilltop skyline views with hiking trails and recreation areas. Throughout the spring, summer and fall months, Grandview Park hosts concerts, movies, events, and Sunday morning yoga.

  • Each year, Allentown and surrounding Hilltop communities come together to thank their many supporters and partners and to celebrate accomplishments in the Hilltop with food, drinks, and conversation at the annual Hilltop Summit, hosted by the Hilltop Alliance. This year’s event is on Tuesday, November 19, 2019, at 6 p.m. in the ballroom of Alla Famiglia in Allentown's East Warrington Avenue business district. Look for more information and tickets to go on sale in early October.
